Welcome to Central Model Flying Club

Central Model Flying Club welcomes all pilots of fixed wing, glider, and electric models to our Flying Club.

Club field is situated in rural Shropshire, near to the Severn Valley Country Park and most types of models can be accommodated.

All types of model aircraft and gliders are welcome and there is no limit on engine size or model size or weight. However, it is a condition of our planning permission that our models do not exceed a noise level of 82dBA at 7m, measured in accordance with the method described in the BMFA Member's Handbook.

New Members & Training

We welcome enquiries from people wishing to join whether they are experienced flyers or new to the hobby.

Whilst the club has no formal setup for the training of new pilots we are a friendly bunch and most members will be more than happy to assist any newcomers. The club environment is the best way to enter into the world of model flying and can help to reduce the cost of those 'first steps'!

Obviously, we hope that as pilots gain experience, they will themselves assist in the training of new pilots!

General Location

The club is located near Alveley, in rural south Shropshire, between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. We are fortunate to have a superb field with a good grass surface and almost completely unobstructed airspace, particularly suited to the flying of large models.

History

Members of the defunct Highgate Common club started Central MFC in 1993. Highgate Common had been used for model flying for many years, but in or around 1990 the local authority banned it.

The enthusiasts affected moved around a few local fields, none of which were ideal until the present site near Alveley was found.
